The GT (Working Group) created by the MDHC (Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship) to tackle hate speech and extremism in Brazil proposed a review of the national plan for human rights education.
The group was created in February by Minister Silvio Almeida with members of civil society, scholars, influencers and researchers.
Among the various recommendations is also the mobilization of a national pact on the subject. The actions will be accompanied by a permanent forum to be created.
The final report, of 80 pages, will be presented next Monday (3). The “Report on Recommendations for Combating Hate Speech and Extremism in Brazil” brings, in addition to recommendations for strategic public policies to be adopted, an international diagnosis and concepts on the subject.
The WG presidency was held by former deputy Manuela d’Avila and the rapporteur by Camilo Onoda Luiz Caldas, postdoctoral fellow at the University of Coimbra in Democracy and Human Rights. Influencer Felipe Neto is among the well-known members.
