The image, reproduced by the newspaper, is made using the multiple exposure technique. “The multiple exposure technique is a resource widely used in photojournalism and consists of superimposing images on the same frame, without further editing and done in the camera itself. The prerequisite for using it is to explain the procedure for producing the image in the caption, which was done by Folha”, said the newspaper.

The photojournalist who took the photo, Gabriela Biló, made a video on the newspaper’s instagram explaining the process of creating the image and highlighted that “for me, the photo means that life goes on in Brasilia”.

Secom, in a note, said it was “regrettable” that the communication vehicle published “a non-journalistic image suggesting violence against the president”.

Secom note in full

It is regrettable that the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper produced and disseminated a non-journalistic image suggesting violence against the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in the context of the anti-democratic acts of January 8th.

It is a montage, as it does not portray any moment that happened.
