President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) defended this Monday (17) the regulation of large digital platforms. The statement was made during the president’s speech at the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) and the European Union (EU).
“It is urgent that we regulate the use of platforms to fight cyber crimes and misinformation. What is a crime in real life must be a crime in the digital world,” said the president.
He also criticized the precariousness of work by applications. “Apps and platforms cannot simply abolish the labor laws we fought so hard for. The precariousness of work needs to be reversed”, said Lula.
“It is necessary to rescue an industry that is intensive in technology and focused on sustainability as a great engine for the generation of quality jobs”, he defended.
On social media, federal deputy Orlando Silva (PCdoB-SP) defended Lula’s speech and cited the Fake News PL (PL 2630/2020). “In all cases, one thing is certain: the regulation of digital platforms is a central task of our time. PL 2630 is the beginning”, said the parliamentarian in the twitter.
