Luciano Huck criticizes the left and calls for political renewal

After criticizing former president Jair Bolsonaro’s government in recent years, presenter Luciano Huck criticized political polarization and the left-wing government at an event in Rio de Janeiro, this Thursday (5).
“Brazil cannot have another lost decade like so many that we have had. We fell into a polarization that didn’t work for anyone, didn’t make anyone move forward. I am not discussing political or ideological positioning here. I am discussing us as a nation, a powerful country, which has a market, rich by nature and poor by choice”, said Huck.
Despite denying the launch of a future candidacy, Huck frequently takes positions on politics, and said that it is necessary to “build a new generation of politicians and leaders who can assume a role ethically”.
“It is a very unequal country, this has to be debated. I have nothing against capital, I am a progressive liberal, people have to make money, profit is not a sin. I want everyone to do well. I’m not making a left-wing speech. Especially because I don’t think the left in Brazil is radical. The left in Brazil is backward”, explained Huck.
In 2019, the presenter identified himself as an activist for a new national policy and was one of the main voices of RenovaBR, a political group that in the 2018 election launched 120 candidates and elected 17. Huck himself was even considered to run for president in 2018 , but did not launch a candidacy.
The original version of the report spelled the presenter’s name incorrectly, which was corrected after observation sent by a reader.
