Lúcia França is encouraged to be mayor of São Vicente – 01/21/2023 – Panel

Lúcia França (PSB), who debuted at the polls as a candidate for vice-president of Fernando Haddad (PT) in the race for the Government of São Paulo in 2022, has been encouraged by allies of her and her husband, Minister Márcio França (Ports and Airports) to compete in 2024 for the City Hall of São Vicente, political cradle of the couple.
She says it is still early to take a stand, having just come out of “a fierce campaign”.
“I left very strengthened, I learned a lot in many aspects”, says the former first lady from São Paulo. Enthusiasts of the candidacy say that her image was strengthened in the city after last year’s campaign and they took the idea to the teacher, who initially would not have ruled out the hypothesis.
Her brother, Pedro Gouvêa (MDB), was mayor of São Vicente between 2017 and 2020, when he tried for re-election and did not reach the second round. The current ruler of the city is Kayo Amado (Podemos).
For the França clan, retaking local power gained importance after Márcio lost the race for a seat in the Senate and the defeat of the Haddad/Lúcia ticket. The electoral directions of the family, which also includes state deputy Caio França (PSB), are still open.
