the sock Lucas Lima announced this Tuesday (7) that it is back to saints, team in which he lived the best phase of his career. In a video published on social networks, the 32-year-old player confirms the agreement and apologizes for the way he left Vila Belmiro in 2017 to settle with rival Palmeiras, after not renewing his contract with the team from the coast of São Paulo.
“I’m coming back. A reason to be very proud not only for me, but for all my family. I wanted to leave a message for you: I wanted to apologize for all the times I hurt, for all the fans, for Santos too . I know I didn’t manage everything that happened in my career in the best way. I regret it, but thank God I’m having a new chance, an opportunity to go back and write a new story in the place where I was happiest in life, I went to the selection and I had titles”, says the midfielder.
After playing last season for Fortaleza, on loan from Palmeiras, Lucas Lima was without a club since the end of his contract with the Alviverde club at the end of last year. When his name started to be speculated at Santos, the repercussion was negative among part of the fans.
The days in Vila are tense because of the crisis experienced by the team in Paulistão, so much so that there was an invasion at CT Rei Pelé last week, which is why the board was cautious when conducting the negotiation. The midfielder position is one of the most lacking in the Santos squad.
The comeback announcement was followed by a strong message of support. Brokered by NR Sports, Neymar’s father’s company, Lucas Lima received a message from the Paris Saint-Germain star, with whom he is a friend. “Good luck, brother. Go with everything”, wrote the Brazilian national team player when sharing the video of the new Santos reinforcement.
Lucas Lima was very dear to Santos before the controversial deal with Palmeiras,. He used to tease the alviverde team, including in posts on social networks. When he switched sides, he continued with provocations and even said that in the Palestrina team he would have the opportunity to “play in a sold-out stadium”.
It was with the Santos shirt that the midfielder lived his best moment in his career, even being called up for the Brazilian national team and observed by European clubs. He was removed by the Santos board after signing a pre-contract with Palmeiras. At the rival, he did not show the good football of yesteryear, embittering the reserve in a good part of his passage, until he was loaned to Fortaleza in the middle of 2021.
