Councilor proposed from the CMM Tribune that the City Hall of Manaus create an emergency structure for families in risk areas

Manaus (AM) – City councilor Lissandro Breval (Avante) defended, this Monday morning (27), the creation of an immediate action structure by the Municipality of Manaus to provide assistance to families in risk areas on days of intense rains in the capital of Amazonas. According to the parliamentarian, a work front that brings together secretariats, which acts independently of the measures that will be taken by the state and federal governments, needs to be ready to help the population until housing programs are implemented in the capital with the support of the Federal Government.

“There are many years of run over management, of lack of public housing policy. There are many years of invasions. Then we realized the need for the city hall, regardless of the actions of the state and federal governments, to have a structure for immediate action. We cannot predict the rains, but we can ensure a structure within the municipal management that acts quickly and effectively with each new episode of rain in our city”, proposed the parliamentarian.

The councilor also reinforced the need for a better structure for the municipal Civil Defense and stated that this independent group would be essential to minimize the impact suffered by families residing in risk areas.

“We managed to go to the streets, collect food, clothes. But it is necessary to ensure a quick response. There is no magic formula on this issue, we need housing management, serious public policy, work on the igarapés, inspection. In the meantime, City Hall ensures prompt support and assistance to these people,” he continued.

Immediate intervention in streams

In a speech at the Tribune of the Municipality of Manaus (CMM), councilor Lissandro Breval requested, via indication, that the city hall carry out emergency actions in the igarapés that cross six areas of the Amazonian capital.

“Riachuelo Park Community, Tarumã; Rua Altamira, São José 2; José Bonifácio community, Colônia Santo Antônio neighborhood; Igarapé do Bindá, Mundo Novo community; and Rua Traíra, Jorge Teixeira; and Rua Caurés, São José dos Campos. May these indications reach the municipal management as soon as possible ”, he concluded.
