The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), said that this week he will read the request for the creation of the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) that seeks to investigate the performance of the MST (Movement of Landless Rural Workers), in the midst of the movement’s actions in Embrapa areas, on farms and at Incra headquarters (National Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform).

Lira said on Monday night (24) that requirements from the CPIs of Americanas and the manipulation of results in soccer matches in the country should also be read. “I must read this week: MST, Americanas and game manipulation”, she told the press.

He said, however, that the CPIs and the mixed CPI that will investigate the coup acts of January 8, which should also be installed this week, will not affect the progress of the agenda in the Chamber.

“What we are going to value is the continuity of the agenda. Some CPIs can be installed in the Chamber as well, we have a queue of four, but they will work in their own terrain and environment. starting this week.”

Faced with the actions of the MST, the agribusiness caucus had been pressuring Lira to install the commission. Last week, the organization began the National Day of Struggle for Land and Agrarian Reform with the invasion of at least nine farms, including an area that belongs to Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation), in addition to Incra headquarters in at least seven federation units.

On Monday night, the president of the FPA (Parliamentary Front for Agriculture), Pedro Lupion (PP-PR), went to the networks to celebrate Lira’s statements praising the performance of the President of the House.

“Freedom of expression will be maintained. There is a false narrative from large platforms that the population will have intervention on their internet, on the contrary. it is due, not for situations, such as, for example, this issue of schools”, he said.

“There must be a limit to this, guaranteeing everyone their freedom of expression. And each one bears the consequences of what he says on the networks”, he continued.

Lira also stated that the leaders of the Chamber will meet this Tuesday (25) with the PL’s rapporteur, Orlando Silva (PC do B-SP), so that the federal deputy explains “item by item” of the text.
