Lira says it has nothing to do with the PF operation against its allies in robotics kit fraud – 06/01/2023 – Politics

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), said this Thursday (1st) that he does not feel affected by the Federal Police operation that targets his allies.

In an interview with GloboNews, Lira said that she has “absolutely nothing to do with what is happening” and that each one is “responsible for their CPF in this land and in this country”.

The Federal Police are carrying out this Thursday arrest and search and seizure warrants in an investigation into deviations in contracts for the purchase of robotics kits with money from the FNDE (National Fund for the Development of Education).

One of the search and seizure warrants executed by the PF is addressed to one of the closest assistants to the President of the Chamber. Luciano Cavalcante currently occupies the leadership of the PP in the Chamber and is known in Brasilia as one of the politician’s most trusted people.

“I cannot issue any value judgment. What I can say is that I, having the position I have in defense of parliamentary amendments that bring benefits to all of Brazil and the entire population, have absolutely nothing to do with what is happening and I don’t feel affected nor do I think it’s provocative”, Lira said this Thursday afternoon to GloboNews.

“Things are driven by political polarization to ask, ‘why did Twitter come from [senador] Renan [Calheiros], because the operation came two days ago, because there is pressure from the government’. I’m not going to eat that rope, I’m going to stick to receiving and having more accurate information. And each one is responsible for their CPF in this land and in this country, “he continued.

Lira also said that nobody likes to receive news like the one he received today, that he cannot comment on a police operation without having access to its content and without “making frivolous accusations to anyone.”

“What we know is that this is an old process, which is already being processed by the TCU [Tribunal de Contas da União]including part of a favorable decision, with technical reports that can be sought that say that there was no type of fraud in this process”, he said.

“There is also a search for local remnants in this operation, because the confusion started there. There are decisions of the Federal Court that resolve and say that there is no overpricing or overbilling or any deviation in this situation, but I cannot make any value judgment”, he added. .

The investigated case originated from a report by the Sheet published in April last year on acquisitions in municipalities of Alagoas, all signed with the same company belonging to allies of the President of the Chamber.
