Lira is my customer in Alagoas, says Renan – 05/31/2023 – Panel

Pivot of a dispute with Arthur Lira (PP-AL), senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL) told the Panel this Wednesday (31) that he was not informed of the mayor’s discomfort with the maintenance of his son, Renan Filho (MDB-AL), as Minister of Transport in the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

According to members of the political wing and government parliamentarians, Lira made a complaint to President Lula himself, to the Civil House and to the Institutional Relations Secretariat on Monday night (29) that he was dissatisfied with messages published by Renan on social networks.

On twitter, the senator called Lira a deadbeat, accused him of embezzling public money and of having beaten his ex-wife. The president of the Chamber sent a message to Planalto that he considered the declarations of the senator from Lula’s base to be inadmissible and that the government was being lenient in keeping Renan Filho, at the head of the Ministry of Transport.

“I just don’t want Arthur to stop being our opponent in Alagoas. He’s been our customer”, pinned the senator.

Regarding the publications on social networks, Renan said that “he had to speak”. He stated that the president of the Chamber continues “persecuting Alagoas, plotting against the government and making the constitutional role of the Senate difficult.”

Last week, the parliamentarian and Senator Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM) had a long conversation with Lula and the main articulators of the government about the difficulties they have been facing in the National Congress.

“Arthur Lira does not want the government to have a majority. He made a large part of the provisional measures unfeasible and has an entry into the PT bench itself. That is why we said that we would not participate in the CPMI on January 8: because he prepared a trap.”

Renan assesses the defeats suffered by the PT administration should not be repeated in the Senate. In yet another criticism, he says that the Senate has no reason to “follow this legislative rite of blackmail” by Lira.
