Lira confirms vote on new tax rule and minimum wage MP

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL) confirmed this Tuesday (21) the agreement between the leaders to vote on economic issues later this week, such as the conclusion of the Fiscal Framework, readjustment of public servants, correction of Income Tax and Minimum Salary.

Lira guaranteed that “there is no crisis” with the government and stressed that “we hope that the government builds its base, but that is the government’s problem”. He also assured that there are understandings with the government to avoid sending Provisional Measures to the Chamber, except in urgent cases, and defended that important matters be dealt with through Bills.

The president also recalled that the Chamber of Deputies has been doing its part to approve important matters for the country, highlighting the Transition PEC, the vote on the Tax Reform, the casting vote by CARF, the MP da Esplanada – which increased the number of ministries; and the Fiscal Framework itself.

About this Wednesday’s votes Lira said that understandings are still being made to allow the vote on the Measures that deal with the minimum wage and the correction of the Income Tax, which should be separated from the taxation of offshore funds. This matter should be dealt with in a new MP and in a Bill to be sent to Congress.

Earlier, the leader of the Government in the Chamber, Deputy José Guimarães (PT/CE) also confirmed the vote on the fiscal framework. The text will include the changes made by the Senate that allow the DF Constitutional Fund and FUNDEB to exceed the spending ceiling.

José Guimarães also said that the leaders should still vote today on the Provisional Measure that deals with the readjustment of civil servants. Tomorrow, the leaders agreed to include on the agenda the MPs that deal with the minimum wage and correction of the Income Tax.
