The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), forwarded to deputy Danilo Forte (União Brasil-CE) the rapporteur for the 2024 Budget Guidelines Law (LDO). People’s Gazette this Monday (24), the nomination took place in the morning due to an agreement signed with the party.

The text of the LDO outlines the guidelines for the preparation of the Union’s budget for next year, which foresees a primary expenditure of BRL 2.042 trillion next year. The projection was presented by Minister Simone Tebet, of Planning, last week.

The 2024 LDO also provides for a minimum wage of R$1,389 with no real increase. The readjustment proposal for next year only considers the correction of the value forecast for December 2023 by the National Consumer Price Index (INPC), of 5.16%. For 2025 and 2026, the projected amounts are R$1,435 and R$1,481, respectively.

However, Tebet said that “there is not the slightest chance that the president will not give a real raise”, in reference to the campaign promise of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to grant a real raise during his term.

Forte is expected to start working on the project later this week.
