Stage will have 6 Brazilian clubs on the field from August 2nd to 9th
This Wednesday (5th), CONMEBOL defined, by drawing lots, the clashes for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores and also the ranking until the final of the competition. The only 100% national duel will be Atlético-MG x Palmeiras. Only Flamengo will play the first leg at home: they will receive Olímpia (Paraguay), in Maracanã. The other Brazilians will visit their opponents in this phase: Fluminense will face Argentinos Junior (Argentina), Internacional will face River Plate (Argentina) and Athletico-PR will face Bolívar (Bolivia).
The round of 16 matches will take place from the 2nd to the 9th of August. Before the draw at Conmebol headquarters, in Asunción (Paraguay), the names of the clubs were distributed in two pots: one with the leaders of each bracket in the group stage – who have the advantage of competing at home in the second and last game of the octaves – and another with the vice-leaders of each group.
The club that advances to the quarterfinals will pocket US$ 1.7 million – equivalent to R$ 8.9 million. The final of this Copa Libertadores will not be at Maracanã, on November 4 (Saturday). The winner will receive a prize of US$ 18 million (R$ 94.5 million).
