Leite articulates the support of 256 deputies to the tax – 06/22/2023 – Panel

On July 4, the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB), organizes a meeting of representatives from the South and Southeast to guide support for tax reform.
Leite, also president of Codesul (Council of the Southern States), is talking to Cosud (Council of the Southern and Southeast States) to work in favor of the proposal.
The two regions together have seven states and add up to 256 deputies, that is, half of the Chamber.
Leite participated in the meeting convened this Thursday by the mayor, Arthur Lira (PP-AL) with governors and representatives of the 26 states and the Federal District. Also present were the reform’s rapporteur, Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB), and party leaders.
On the occasion, Lira signaled that he intends to put the text to a vote on the next 7th. The governor of Rio Grande do Sul delivered a letter with five points of attention.
In his view, it is important to maintain taxation at the destination and not at the origin of the product or service. In addition, he defended the existence of a representative governance structure in a Federative Council, which will be assigned the management of resources in the new simplified tax.
