LeBron James became the second NBA player in history to surpass the 38,000 career point mark, approaching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time record.
James surpassed the mark with a pitch in the first quarter, and scored 35 points in Sunday’s game (15) between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers.
The 38-year-old needed just 11 points to reach the mark, and is now 363 points short of tying Abdul-Jabbar’s record.
However, the mark did little to improve James’ mood as the Lakers lost in a tight 113-112.
“It’s just frustrating to go into those positions and not come away with a win,” James told reporters after the Lakers’ third consecutive loss.
Joel Embiid was the 76ers’ leading scorer, finishing the night with 35 points and 11 rebounds, while James Harden had 24 points and dished out 13 assists.
