Learn how to make the slick noodles from the movie ‘Hunger for Success’ – 04/16/2023 – Marcelo Katsuki

After the success of jjapaguri, the Korean noodle from the movie ‘Parasite’, which won the Oscar 2020, we are now faced with another noodle recipe, this time from Thai, to whet our worms while we watch the misadventures of cook Aoy in the movie “Hunger for Success”, new Netflix hit.

The recipe for the sly noodles (or “ngo ngae noodles”) is not shown in detail in the film, but it doesn’t take a chef Paul, the film’s self-centered and cruel villain, to decipher it. It is enough to add the moments in which the dish is being prepared, served or described (with contempt) by the chef to realize that it is a recipe similar to that of Spicy Miso Noodles in a homemade version, made “with whatever you have in the fridge”.

So let’s go to the Asian products shop to stock the pantry and rock Sunday lunch with this recipe that is the pure taste of Asia. Come on, it’s delicious!

Sly Noodles
(Makes 2 servings)

Ingredients:
• 1 package (200 g) of rice noodles
• 200 g small shrimp (without the head)
• 200 g of chicken in strips
• 2 cups finely chopped cabbage
• 1 onion cut into half moons
• frying oil

Optional (whatever you have in the fridge)
• Diced dried tofu
• carrots in strips
• chopped broccoli
• crooked pea
• scallion
• scrambled eggs

for the sauce
• 1 tablespoon miso (fermented soybean paste)
• 4 tablespoons of oyster sauce
• 1/2 tablespoon Sriracha (Thai chili sauce)
• 50 ml of water

Finalization (optional)
• Sesame oil
• Dried red pepper (flakes)
• Lemon

Preparation
1. Cook the pasta according to package directions and set aside.
two. Sauce: mix all the ingredients in a bowl until you get a thick sauce.
3. Heat the oil and sauté the chicken, shrimp, onion, cabbage and any optional items you have in a frying pan (or wok), add the sauce and cook until they are soft. If the sauce reduces, add a little water.

4. Add the pasta and mix with the sauce.
5. Finish with a drizzle of sesame oil, pepper flakes and lemon (optional).

Note: Miso (soybean paste) and oyster sauce should already offer enough salt for the recipe, but if you prefer more salty, just add a little salt or soy sauce to the sauce.
