Lawyer Daniela Teixeira, from the Federal District, was the most voted candidate on the six-fold list of the OAB (Order of Lawyers of Brazil) to occupy a vacancy at the STJ (Superior Court of Justice).
She, who held several positions in the Order, is the only woman on the list and appears at the top, with 28 votes. Behind Daniela were Luiz Cláudio Chaves, with 27 votes, Luiz Cláudio Allemand, with 26, Otávio Rodrigues, with 26, André Godinho, with 26 and Márcio Fernandes, with 23.
The entity chose this Monday (19) the six-fold list that it will send to the STJ to fill a vacancy for lawyers in the court, the so-called constitutional fifth.
The STJ then makes a triple list and sends it to Lula (PT), who nominates one of the members of the list for the position.
Daniela Teixeira is a member of the Prerogativas group, made up of lawyers, jurists and public defenders, which was one of the biggest critics of Lava Jato and support Lula’s candidacy for the Presidency —part of its members is in the PT government.
“The group followed the process from the beginning and celebrated the result of the vote”, says lawyer Marco Aurélio de Carvalho, coordinator of Prerogativas, to the column.
Despite the strong campaign of social movements for the nomination of a woman, Lula does not intend to adopt this criterion as exclusive for the future choices of magistrates of regional courts and superior courts.
As the column revealed, the president intends to indicate people to whom he can “phone”. Even if they are not his friends, he needs to be at least close enough to know the thoughts of the person he is going to recommend.
