Law will enable more adequate care for patients, considering that they suffer from a highly debilitating disease
Sanctioned in Amazonas, Law No. 6,740, authored by state deputy Dr. Mayara Pinheiro Reis (Republicans), guarantees priority in care for people with Lupus in hospitals, outpatient clinics, health units and other similar establishments in the public and private healthcare network. state health.
For Dr. Mayara, the law will enable more adequate care for patients, considering that they suffer from a highly debilitating disease.
“This is an opportunity to reaffirm my constant fight for the health of the people of Amazonas and to help people with Lupus by giving them faster and more humanized care. There are several damages caused by the disease that directly affect the immune system, responsible for the production of antibodies and inflammatory mechanisms. Each patient can be affected in different ways and symptoms and all of this has to be taken into consideration when providing care”,
explained the deputy.
A chronic inflammatory disease of autoimmune origin, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) can develop quickly or gradually.
The main type is cutaneous and consists of the appearance of red or erythematous spots, mainly in areas of the body that are exposed to the sun, but this does not prevent internal organs from being affected. Extreme weakness is also one of the symptoms.
Priority to patients with Lupus will be granted upon presentation of a certificate signed by a specialist doctor (rheumatologist) from the public network or affiliated with the Unified Health System (SUS).
