Law prioritizes vacancies in Amapá Jovem for orphans of victims of femicide – News of Brazil

The governor of Amapá, Clécio Luís (Solidariedade), sanctioned law nº 2.871/2023, authored by state deputy Lorran Barreto (PSD), which provides priority for vacancies in the Amapá Jovem Program for orphans of women murdered in the context of domestic violence and familiar.
Approved by the Legislative Assembly of Amapá (Alap) in May, unanimously, the standard came into force last Friday (23), when it was published in the Official State Gazette (DOE). The initiative guarantees priority for vacancies to adolescents dependent on victims of femicide, as established in Federal Law No. 13,104/2015.
With the measure, art. ‘6°-A’ in State Law No. 2,214/2017, which provides for the reformulation and guidelines of the Amapá Jovem Program, within the scope of state public administration.
According to state deputy Lorran Barreto, the purpose of the law is to contribute to public policy aimed at social assistance, ensuring the necessary support for families.
“The enactment of the law is an example of the State’s commitment to providing equal opportunities. The norm seeks reconstruction and development for young people in vulnerable situations, who lost their mothers in contexts of gender violence. In addition, it is of paramount importance to strengthen the fight against femicide”, explained the parliamentarian.

According to the text of the new law, proof of orphan status resulting from femicide must be done through official documents, to ensure transparency and fair application of priority vacancies.
Program
Amapá Jovem is a cross-cutting program of public policies for young people in Amapa, which aims to reduce vulnerability and social and personal risks. Coordinated by the State Secretariat for Youth Policies (Sejuv), the initiative relies on the collaboration of various state agencies for its regular operation.
