LaLiga files seventh complaint of racist attack suffered by Vinícius Jr

LaLiga, the association responsible for organizing the Spanish Championship, communicated this Thursday (9) that it had forwarded to the authorities the seventh complaint of an episode of racism with Vinícius Júnior as a victim. The new case, registered last Sunday (5) during the duel between Betis and Real Madridwas forwarded to the Court of Instruction of Seville.

The goal is to identify the fan who used the word “monkey” to offend the Brazilian striker, a scene that has been repeated frequently in Real games at opposing stadiums. LaLiga has already been publicly charged by Vini Jr. for the lack of punishments for racists in Spanish football.

Since then, it has moved to curb cases of this type and has opened direct channels for collaboration in identifying perpetrators of racial slurs in stadiums. Fans who have information can contact the organization via the email [email protected].

Last week, the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport in Spain asked that one of the perpetrators of racist insults against Vini Jr. be banned for one year from stadiums and pay a fine of 4,000 euros (R$ 22,100). The individual in question is a Mallorca fan and is 20 years old, but his identity has not been revealed by the commission.

In addition to the offenses directed at Vini Jr, the young man is also responsible for the racist attack on Samuel Chukwueze, a Nigerian midfielder who plays for Villarreal. He was identified after an operation led by Mallorca’s director of security and gave a statement to the police. Both cases took place at the Iberostar Stadium, where Mallorca play their matches.

Real Valladolid, a team that also had racist fans attacking Vinícius, communicated, also last week, that it was working to define the punishment for a group of about ten people identified as authors of insults to the attacker.
