The actor is on trial at Southwark Royal Court on a dozen counts of sexual offenses against four men between 2001 and 2013. Actor Kevin Spacey has denied committing any sexual assault and told jurors he is “devastated” by the allegations as he testified in a London courtroom on Thursday. The Oscar winner said he couldn’t believe that one of the whistleblowers, who allege Spacey assaulted him on as many as 12 occasions, would “stab him in the back”. Spacey, 63, is on trial at Southwark Royal Court on a dozen counts of sex crimes against four men between 2001 and 2013, when they were in their 20s and 30s. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. The four accusers said Spacey aggressively groped them and in one case performed oral sex while the victims were passed out. The prosecution described him as a “sex offender”. He was first asked about one of the claimants who alleges the actor repeatedly assaulted him over a period of around four years in the early 2000s. His lawyer, Patrick Gibbs, asked Spacey about his relationship with the man, to which Spacey said, “I really liked him. We had a lot of fun together. We laughed a lot.” Spacey denied that the relationship was non-consensual, saying, “It didn’t happen in a violent, aggressive, painful way. It was kind and moving and, in my opinion, romantic.” The actor has further denied sexually assaulting a second man, who alleges the actor subjected him to a series of sexualized comments at a charity event in London and says Spacey spun him around and painfully grabbed his crotch like “a snake”. “I never said any of the things he claims I said to him and never would have said to anyone in my life,” Spacey said. On the alleged assault, he added: “That never happened.”
