Federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) was sentenced by the court to pay BRL 80,000 to colleague Duda Salabert (PDT-MG) after a case of transphobia in the Belo Horizonte City Council, when the Bolsonarist called her “he “. The decision can still be appealed.

At the time, both were councilors and Nikolas, in an interview held at the end of 2020, said he would call her by the dead pronoun regardless of Duda’s gender.

“I’ll still call her ‘he’. He’s a man. That’s what’s on his certificate, regardless of what he thinks it is”, said the then councilor.

It is also in the process that the parliamentarian “reflected the matter on his social networks Twitter and Instagram, insisting on the offense and using a jocular tone in his publications”.

Duda posted the decision on his social networks, celebrating it. “You lost, Nikolas Ferreira! He has now been convicted and will have to pay me BRL 80,000 for the transphobic speeches against me! If you didn’t learn in the family and at school, you will learn in court to respect transvestites”, wrote the parliamentarian.

The deputy even published a photo with a beer and mocked: “At the airport, returning home and waiting for the pix”.

Judge José Ricardo dos Santos de Freitas Véras, from the 33rd Civil Court of the Comarca of Belo Horizonte, defended the payment of compensation as a penalty of “an educational and punitive nature to the offender”.

“Thus, considering the repercussions of what happened, the seriousness of the offense to the author’s rights, the agents involved, as well as the remuneration they received as federal deputies, I understand that the compensation of BRL 80,000.00 represents a reasonable amount, capable of repair the moral damage suffered, without providing enrichment on the part of the victim”, decided the magistrate.

Nikolas has already starred in another episode of transphobic content since he started as a parliamentarian. On Women’s Day, the deputy went to the plenary of the Chamber and put on a blonde wig, saying that “he feels like a woman”, that he would be “deputy Nicole” and “has a place to speak”.

“Women are losing their space for men who feel like women. For you to have an idea of ​​the danger that this is, they are wanting to impose a reality that is not reality,” he said.

At least two lawsuits sent to the STF (Federal Supreme Court) ask for the annulment of his mandate. Last week, the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship prepared a technical note recommending the start of the trial for the impeachment of mandate and the continuation of investigations against the deputy.
