Justice determines payment of Ciro to Holiday – 06/16/2023 – Panel

Judge Ligia dal Colletto Bueno, of the Court of Justice of São Paulo, determined compliance with the sentence that won the case to São Paulo councilor Fernando Holiday (Republicans) against former presidential candidate Ciro Gomes (PDT), extinguishing the process.
Holiday sued Ciro after he called him the “little captain of the bush” in 2018, a reference to black people who helped slave owners in the past.
Justice had determined that the pedetista indemnify the councilor in R$ 48 thousand, an amount that increased due to interest and monetary correction, since the money was not deposited.
Last month, Justice blocked BRL 151,000 in assets belonging to Ciro’s wife, Giselle Bezerra, so that the payment could be made, since it did not find any assets to be pledged in the name of the former presidential candidate.
Last Thursday (15), the judge rejected Ciro’s appeal and ended the process. The amount will be deposited into the Holiday account.
