Journalist José Roberto Burnier, 63 years old, suffered a heart attack and had to undergo emergency cardiac surgery last Friday (29), after feeling ill after presenting local news programs in São Paulo, during the New Year’s shift. New from Globo.

According to published information, Burnier performed surgery to unblock the main artery, including the placement of a stent – ​​a small, expandable tube made of metal used to restore blood flow in the coronary artery.

The anchor is in the recovery process at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo. According to information, the communicator felt discomfort in his chest during the SP2 presentation on Friday (29) and went to the hospital. After undergoing tests at the medical unit, a complete blockage in the main artery of the heart was found. Urgent surgery was performed in the early hours of the morning.

The Globo presenter told friends that he suspected he had led the presentation of the two newspapers while already having a heart attack, given the extent of the arterial blockage. The veteran, who is stable, will undergo a period dedicated to recovery.

On New Year’s duty, Burnier was in charge of local news on the 27th, 28th and 29th of December, being later replaced by Ana Paula Campos, on Saturday (30). José Roberto Burnier has been a member of SP2 since April 2023, after Carlos Tramontina left Globo.
