Jornalistas & Cia launches edition about Cláudio Abramo – 05/04/2023 – Politics

Journalist Cláudio Abramo, former editorial director of Sheetis honored in this week’s Jornalistas & Cia newsletter, being remembered for his experience in São Paulo news and for his importance in modernizing the Brazilian press.

The centenary of Abramo’s birth is celebrated this Thursday (6).

The newsletter, published weekly, aims to connect Brazilian communication professionals and the main events in Newsrooms, agencies and journalistic events in the country, disclosing selection processes, awards, scholarships and initiatives in the sector, among others.

Recalling the story of Abramo, born on the eve of Journalist’s Day, celebrated on April 7, this week’s newsletter brings a set of interviews and chronicles with the journalist’s work colleagues, as well as a statement from former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso ( PSDB), with whom he was a friend.

Leão Serva, former secretary of the Sheet and a work colleague of the journalist, recalled having met Abramo in the newspaper’s editorial office, shortly after he had returned from London, where he had been a correspondent. Serva highlighted the importance of journalists in building a more objective press.

Juca Kfouri, Janio de Freitas, Fernando Morgado, Ricardo Kotscho, Luís Nassif and other names in Brazilian communication were also heard, who left testimonials or remarkable facts about Abramo, his personal life and his professional career.

Eduardo Ribeiro, director of Jornalistas Editora, which publishes the newsletter, highlighted the importance of Abramo’s work in national journalism and the echo of his work in news production even today.

“In the midst of a stellar family, it can be said that Cláudio was a Sun, such was the splendor of his passage through Brazilian journalism and such was the legend that was created around his name, still reverberating in several professional generations” wrote Ribeiro in the introduction to the newsletter.
