Fluminense informed that, in training this Tuesday, left-back Jorge suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee, in addition to the meniscus, and should undergo surgery. The club does not provide a return forecast.
This is the second serious injury Jorge has had on his knee. In 2020, when he was in Basel, Switzerland, the side broke the knee ligament, only on the left. This time the problem is on the right.
Jorge, who had already been suffering from physical problems and injuries since his time at Palmeiras, sees yet another injury disrupting his career. He was Fluminense’s reserve at this point in the season.
The left-back, who belongs to Palmeiras, is on loan to Fluminense for one season. He returns to Rio de Janeiro after being revealed by Flamengo.
Jorge is 26 years old and started his career at Flamengo. He was sold to Monaco (FRA) in 2017 and also passed through Porto (POR), Santos and Basel (SUI) before being acquired definitively by Palmeiras in July 2021. For alviverde he never managed to establish himself among the starters. In the last Brazilian Championship he played only nine games and was in the starting line-up in five.
