Joia do Santos refuses Flamengo: “I want to stay”

the young striker Ângelo will not change Santos for Flamengo now. As he had already said on other occasions, the striker confirmed this Friday that he will fulfill his contract with the club from São Paulo until December 2024 and thanked the interest of the cariocas.

“I want to thank Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, its directors and its passionate fans for all the affectionate manifestations and also for the proposal that honored me a lot. However, I have a project and a cycle that is agreed with Santos Futebol Clube and I want to honor the word I passed on to my teammates, those responsible for the club and our Santástica fans, who can be sure that we are together”, disclosed the striker in an official press release

Flamengo offered BRL 60 million to hire the Santos striker, in a proposal promptly rejected by the club. The value was for only 50% of the 18-year-old player, who would have a great salary increase, but the club is confident of a much higher value in future negotiations for Europe.

“Perhaps this is not a constant in football, but because of the upbringing I had from my parents, I’m going to stick with my word. That’s how I learned at home, even though I left very early and faced many difficulties to play for Santos, the club for which I have and I will be eternally grateful for everything he gave me from the beginning”, said the player.

Even with Santos not having a great time, out of the Paulistão quarterfinals and under distrust in the Brasileirão, Ângelo trusts the club’s brilliance. “Throughout this trajectory of mine, I had many obstacles to fulfill the dream of being a professional player and that’s why I say that dedication and effort on my part will never lack to overcome any fact or adversity”, he said.

“I expressed to my parents my desire to stay at Santos and follow this cycle in which I understand that I can contribute alongside my teammates and, together, achieve the goals.”
