Manaus (AM) – The former Minister of Finance and Director of Economic Strategy and Market Relations at Banco Safra, Joaquim Levy, in a meeting this Friday (1st) at the Federation of Industries of the State of Amazonas (FIEAM), said that for the Brazil to succeed, the Amazon has to succeed even more.

The president of FIEAM, Antonio Silva, highlighted the importance of Levy’s lecture for assessing the economic scenario, mainly regarding the challenges imposed on the country and the Amazon.

“Especially given the need to move forward with the deep changes that Brazil needs to become more competitive and productive”, said Silva, highlighting the tax reform.

“In particular, I am referring to tax reform, in the first place, and then to administrative reform, so that we can reduce the weight of the State in the economy, and make it more attractive to long-term and sustainable investments. sustainable”,

said the president of FIEAM.

For Levy, the Manaus Free Trade Zone needs to grow in a scenario of tax reform, fiscal stability and, above all, job creation.

“Tax reform has several merits, simplification is one of them. If you really transfer everything to financial credits and digitize the entire collection, if you pay the credits immediately, all of this gives companies a breath of fresh air”,

For the former minister, our economy is a little messed up, but it is not unbalanced. “Our exports remain strong. Our imports are not excessive, so this gives peace of mind to the country’s economy”, he pointed out.
