After agreeing on the contract renewals of some players, Vasco has its first reinforcement signed. Defender João Victor, from Benfica (POR), arrives permanently at the club for next season. The contract will be for five years.
The entire negotiation was conducted by the club’s football director, Alexandre Mattos, and the defender’s name was approved by coach Ramón Díaz. The club is still looking for another defender. The initial information was released by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
To keep the player, Vasco beat competition from Internacional and Botafogo. Both wanted the defender on loan. The club will pay around R$32 million, but the amount can increase according to goals and reach up to R$43 million. The choice for Cruzmaltino was due to the fact that the Vasco fans offered to buy it definitively, Benfica’s objective.
At the age of 25, João Victor played for Atlético-GO, as well as Corinthians in Brazil. At the Portuguese club, there were only five games. He also played for Nantes-FRA, on loan.
