Jiu-jitsu athlete from Amazon wins four medals in tournament in the USA

Manaus (AM) – Last weekend, there was an athlete from Amazonas collecting achievements. Rebeca Cavalcante participated in the Kansas City International Jiu-Jitsu Open 2023 and won four medals in the United States.
Of the four climbs to the podium, Rebeca placed two gold medals, one silver and one bronze on her chest. The 22-year-old has a blue belt in the sport and fought in the adult absolute and super heavyweight categories. Rebeca’s participation in the Open was made possible with air tickets granted by FME.
“Rebeca came to us, persisted in her support and brought results. We are very happy to know that the athletes from Amazonas are performing at a high level”,
highlighted Alexandre Maciel, CEO of the Manaus Sport Foundation (FME).
The Kansas City International Jiu-Jitsu Open is one of the most traditional and popular tournaments in the United States and was held again after two years. Rebeca became the first athlete from Amazonas to be champion in Kansas.
“It’s a very good feeling, of duty accomplished, being able to bring what was expected and even more than that. Being able to do well in this high-level competition was gratifying. I am very grateful for the support from the Manaus Sport Foundation with the tickets”,
