Jesus Pontes is announced PDT pre-candidate for Mayor of Macapá in 2024 – News of Brazil

The state representative Jesus Pontes was presented as a pre-candidate of the Democratic Labor Party (PDT) for Macapá City Hall, in the 2024 municipal elections, on Saturday night, 9. The announcement of Pontes’ name took place during the acronym’s Municipal Convention, at the school’s headquarters samba group Boêmios do Laguinho.
The event was attended by militants and PED leaders, such as the party’s licensed president and the government’s Minister of Integration and Regional Development. The Convention also had the participation of leaders from other parties, such as the president of the Legislative Assembly (Alap), deputy Alinny Serrão (UB), from the federal deputy Augusto Pupio (MDB) and the mayor of Itaubal do Piririm, José Serafim (PL).

For Waldez Góes, the PDT should be present in the 2024 municipal elections not only in the capital, but also in other municipalities, given the size, history and legacy of the party in the State.

“Throughout 2023 we held conventions in the 16 municipalities. The PDT in Amapá is the party with the largest number of members, mandates and a legacy in administration, so this participation in the 2024 elections is legitimate, not in Macapá, but in the other municipalities”highlighted the minister.
Vice-governor Teles Junior said that political discussion and party strengthening must be carried out not only in an election year, but on a daily basis.

“The PDT closes 2023 with a flourish. Here, we train and strengthen leaders, mature ideas and proposals, working on the political renewal of Amapá”pondered Teles.
Federal deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia said that the name of Jesus Pontes as a pre-candidate for the Laurindo Banha Palace was consensual within the party. And he called on activists to embrace the project.

“The name has been chosen and the pre-candidacy will now once again be the PDT being put up for popular approval”, summarized.

The pre-candidate
Jesus Pontes is 45 years old and is in his second term as state deputy. In the Legislative Assembly, one of his flags is the development of the State through agriculture and livestock. He says that he put his name forward as a pre-candidate for Mayor of Macapá as an alternative for the development of the capital of Amapá.
“Here, I come as a militant, as a citizen, who wants to build a new history for Macapá, better thought out, discussed and talked about. Our people deserve this”he spoke.

Municipal Directory
The PDT Municipal Directory was also sworn in at the Convention. Councilor Eduardo Tavares is the president and holds the position of leader of the municipal bench, José Marlúcio Alcântara is the first vice-president and Eli Costa Góes the second vice-president; Regina Duarte is the first secretary, Terezinha de Jesus Monteiro is the treasurer, Danielle de Almeida the first member and Jamille Barros the second member and the honorary president is professor Maria Vitória Chagas.
