Until next Thursday (11), journalists, communicators and students from the area can enroll in the third edition of the course “Educational journalism: bases for coverage”, offered by Jeduca (Association of Education Journalists) in partnership with Abraji (Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism).
Free and online, the course will be held between May 15th and June 20th, with live classes always on Mondays and Tuesdays at 7 pm. The meetings last one hour, and the recordings of the synchronous classes are available on the course platform, as well as the complementary materials indicated by the professors.
To deal with coverage of education from context to practice, the grid has 12 classes that outline an overview of education in the country and specialized journalism in this segment, and address topics such as educational policies, financing, evaluation instruments, use of LAI (Law of Access to Information) and choice of sources.
Content is provided by journalists specializing in education and by researchers in the field of education policy. The class on financing, which explains the direction of resources and the most relevant policies in the sector, such as the new Fundeb, will be given by Paulo Saldaña, reporter for Sheet and director of Jeduca.
Reporter Isabela Palhares, also from Sheetforms a debate table on the impacts of education journalism and opportunities for professionals in the area, alongside journalists Cíntia Gomes (co-founder of Agência Mural and director of Jeduca), Joana Suarez (journalism manager at AzMina magazine), Paula Ferreira (reporter for the newspaper O Globo) and Thaís Borges (reporter for the newspaper Correio).
Those interested can access the complete lesson plan and the list of professors on the Jeduca or Abraji websites. To participate, simply fill out the registration form — those approved will receive a confirmation email by May 12th (Friday).
