Jean Wyllys’ appointment to Lula’s government is against “balance and respect”, says Leite

The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB-RS), criticized this Thursday (20) the possible appointment of former deputy Jean Wyllys to a position in the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The statement came hours after the politician filed a lawsuit with the Public Ministry against the former parliamentarian for discriminatory speeches against him.

According to Leite, the appointment of Wyllys to the Secretariat of Social Communication announced by the first lady Janja da Silva will be a “signal against the path of temperance, balance and respect”, he told the Newspaper.

The criticism, however, is restricted to “the individual and his manifestation”, but does not affect his relationship with President Lula, whom he says he has “respect” for nominating whoever he understands “should be by their side in the government”.

Despite the announcement of a possible appointment of Jean Wyllys to the government, Minister Paulo Pimenta, from the Presidency’s Communication Secretariat, did not confirm.

Leite triggered Wyllys in the MP due to a post on social networks, last weekend, in which he criticized the decision to maintain civic-military schools in Rio Grande do Sul. The former deputy made statements alluding to his sexual orientation, which he classified as “prejudiced, discriminatory and homophobic”.

Wyllys stated that the governor has an “internalized homophobia”, with the development of a “libido and fetishes towards authoritarianism and uniforms” (look here).

“When Jean Wyllys launches attacks on a decision I made as governor, which he may not agree with, he may have another view, but he tries to associate it with my sexual orientation and even sexual preferences, I must also file a representation against him”, he said in a video published on social networks (see in full) presenting the document filed on Wednesday (19).

Governor Eduardo Leite decided to maintain the civic-military school program in Rio Grande do Sul shortly after the Lula government suspended this teaching format as an attribution of the Ministry of Education. “Our government will maintain the program,” he said in a social media post (look here) over 18 units operating with this model.
