Japanese giant invests one billion in Paraná in new noodles factory

Paraná will receive a new plant from the Japanese food multinational Nissin Foods. The factory, which will be the third unit of the leading instant noodle manufacturer in Brazil, miojo, will be built in the municipality of Ponta Grossa, in Campos Gerais, with an investment of R$1 billion.
Construction of the new factory will begin in June 2024, with completion scheduled for March 2026. The unit will be at km 164 of the PR-151 highway, towards Ponta Grossa – Castro. The total area of the industrial complex will total 413.2 thousand square meters, with 68.2 thousand square meters of built area.
“The arrival of Nissin reinforces Paraná’s plan to transform itself into the world’s largest supermarket, increasingly industrializing our food production, instead of just selling commodities”, emphasized governor Ratinho Junior. “It is another multinational that trusts in Paraná, in our stability to produce, bringing more jobs and income to the State”.
Increase in consumption
According to Nissin Foods management, the investment in the new plant is to keep up with the growing consumption of instant noodles in Brazil. The new unit will produce traditional instant noodles, in packets, including those known as miojo, as well as the version in cups, cup noodles. Part of the production in Ponta Grossa will also be destined for export.
“The new factory will increase production capacity and help meet growing demand in Brazil. Furthermore, it will also help to reinforce the production of products for export and increase product variety offers”, says Nissin Foods in an official note.
The Ponta Grossa factory is part of Nissin’s strategic growth plan globally. In May 2021, the multinational announced the goal that approximately 45% of the company’s main operating profit would come from international business.
“Thus, the group has been striving to substantially grow its business abroad. In 2022, the objective was achieved, but the incentive for businesses continues around the world to show even greater general growth”, states the company in a note.
