The recipe suggestion I bring is very simple, okra with bacon and a slightly spicy mayonnaise to finish. And trust me, okra prepared this way doesn’t cause drooling, even those who aren’t fans of okra will like it!

Of Japanese origin, these meat, vegetable or fish skewers are called “robata” and their literal translation means “cooking around the fire”.

Robata restaurants, known as izakaya or robatayaki, have become popular in Japan offering a variety of grilled foods, from meat and seafood to vegetables, all prepared on the ceramic grill. And the heat is generated by burning gas.

But you don’t need a ceramic grill to prepare this delight, you can do it on any grill, and even on an iron plate if you prefer.

OQUIB ROBATA WITH BACON

Ingredients

400g okra (choose the smallest and firmest ones)

250g sliced bacon

1 tablespoon of mayonnaise

1 teaspoon yellow mustard

1 tablespoon siracha pepper

1 tablespoon of honey

Bamboo skewers

Method of preparation

Soak the bamboo skewers in water for 30 minutes.

Wash and dry the okra, cut off the ends and then cut in half.

Wrap each piece of okra with a strip of bacon, carefully attaching it to the bamboo skewers.

Place on the grill over medium heat for 10 minutes each side, until golden.

For the sauce, mix the mayonnaise, mustard, pepper and honey and serve on top of the robata.
