January 8 CPI approves access to Lula’s flight plan – 07/11/2023 – Power

In a slip by the government base in Congress, the January 8 CPI approved this Tuesday (11) the commission’s access to President Lula’s (PT) flight plans on the weekend of the coup attack, in addition to images of the security cameras of the Ministry of Justice.

The nearly 100 requests were approved en bloc —without counting the votes and reading what each of them asked for—, before the testimony of former President Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) main assistant, Mauro Cid.

Access to Lula’s flight plans is part of the opposition’s conspiracy strategy that the president let the headquarters of the three Powers be invaded to wear down Bolsonaro. On January 8, Lula had gone to Araraquara, in the interior of São Paulo, to accompany relief work after heavy rains in the municipality.

Bolsonaristas also hit the key that the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino (PSB), inertly watched the coup attack from the ministry window. Approved applications request full images from the building’s security cameras.

The opposition even complained about the vote, stating that the parliamentarians did not know what was being voted on because the agenda had not been published 48 hours in advance, as required by the bylaws.

Even so, the president of the CPI, Deputy Arthur Maia (União Brasil-BA), brokered an agreement between the base and the opposition to exclude from the list all summons or invitation requirements and approve the rest of the agenda.

Realizing that the base of the Lula government had helped to approve the opposition’s requests by mistake, the rapporteur, senator Eliziane Gama (PSD-MA), made an appeal for the president of the commission to back down, but the request was denied.

“We had a vote by agreement. I repeat here what I said: this presidency will not advise a deputy”, replied Maia.

He said that annulling what had been approved would be “impossible”, and announced that the agenda with the next summons and invitation requirements will be defined by a commission formed by six parliamentarians from the grassroots and the opposition.
