Janja’s sentence about Bolsonaro’s arrest is linked to Dino’s trip to the STF

A statement made by First Lady Rosângela Lula da Silva, to Janja, this Saturday (9), that, “if everything goes well”, Jair Bolsonaro (PL) will be arrested soon, triggered a series of reactions on social media from supporters of the former president. “This guy (Bolsonaro), the unnameable one, is ineligible and, if everything goes well, he will soon be in jail (making the symbol of a prison with his fingers),” she said.

Janja’s phrase addressed to PT members during the party’s electoral conference in Brasília was interpreted by opponents of the Lula government not only as a personal wish, but as a revelation of expectations regarding the possibility of confirmation of minister Flávio Dino (Justice) in the open position at the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Janja didn’t mention anything about Dino.

It will be discussed on the morning of next Wednesday (13) at the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Senate and may be approved by the group of senators on the evening of the same day. If his nomination is confirmed in the Senate, the minister will inherit 344 shares from former minister Rosa Weber. Among these is the petition from the Pandemic Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI), requesting investigations against the former president.

Given Janja’s speech, deputy Filipe Barros (PL-PR) asked on social media: “Does this ‘if everything goes well’ mean ‘if the senators approve Dino’s name in the STF?”. A series of digital influencers followed the same line of reasoning as the parliamentarian, pointing out the supposed “mission” given by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for his nominee to the Supreme Court. “What’s the secret plan, Janja? Tell me! What has to go right for Bolsonaro to be arrested?”, provoked state deputy and influencer Claudio Branchieri (Podemos-RS).

The president of the PT, deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PR), also made statements of the same content as the first lady, stressing that “Bolsonaro’s destiny has to be jail”. But the term “if everything goes well” is what served to engage Bolsonaro’s supporters, especially those mobilizing the popular demonstrations against Dino’s appointment, scheduled in different locations across the country for this Sunday (10).

In his demonstration to an audience of politicians and members of the president’s party, Janja went beyond the glimpse of the former president’s condemnation by the STF. She also said that, after Bolsonaro’s arrest is confirmed, the term “Bolsonarism” could be replaced by “fascism”.

“We need to start calling people fascists, because that’s what they are,” he said. “It is fascism that kills, that nullifies us. So, we need to leave this guy (Bolsonaro) there in his rightful place in history, which is nothing, the trash can.”

The first reaction to the first lady’s attack came from Bolsonaro’s former Minister of Communications (Secom) and current lawyer, Fabio Wajngarten. “In short, who has the most experience in prisons in Brazil. It remains to be seen what needs to work,” he joked.
