First lady Rosangela Lula da Silva, known as Janja, had her account hacked on Monday night (11) on the social network X (the former Twitter). After 9:30 pm, the first lady’s profile began publishing a series of posts insulting herself and against President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The Federal Police investigate the case.
In addition to the insults, phrases were published such as: “Super Xandão president of Brazil in 2026”, in reference to the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes; “I support the monthly allowance”; among others. “Alexandre de Moraes is a criminal and will soon be impeached. Nothing he does will stop us from telling the truth, while I have time I will talk more and more”, says one of the posts.
The first lady has 1.2 million followers on the social network X. Among the messages, the attacker marked the official profile of the Federal Police on the platform. The Presidency’s Social Communication Secretariat (Secom) reported that the Federal Police is already aware of the situation and is investigating the case. “All appropriate measures are being taken. Crimes, misogynistic speeches, hatred and intolerance on social media will not be tolerated,” the ministry said in a statement.
On the social network X, the minister of Secom, Paulo Pimenta, stated that the attackers will be identified. “Criminal scoundrels hacked Janja’s profile. They will be identified and will answer for this crime. The cowards who share and comment distilling their hatred, prejudice and violence will also be identified”, said Pimenta. Lula’s official account shared the minister’s text.
The government leader in Congress, senator Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP), classified the invasion of the first lady’s profile as a “fascist modus operandi” and demanded punishment for those responsible for the action. “The fascist modus operandi is surprisingly predictable when it comes to committing crimes: they invade the profile of an admirable woman like Janja and post sexist and misogynistic attacks, leaving the complete fingerprint of the type of people behind the attacks. It’s just not worth saying later that they were infiltrators… May those responsible be punished quickly and exemplarily!”, said Randolfe.
The hacker published an audio on Janja’s account with an “official statement” in which he said he was “aware” of the PF investigation. “I want to let you know that I’m aware that the Federal Police are investigating this here, but I don’t care. I know something will happen, maybe it won’t, maybe it will, it depends on the judicial system in this country, which is broken, by the way, and I’m a guy who really believes that the laws in this country are weak, they’re rubbish and that there are only politicians stealing”, says an excerpt of the audio.
In a statement, the Federal Police confirmed that it opened a preliminary investigation to investigate the invasion of Janja’s profile. “The account was blocked from new publications, at the request of the PF, after offensive posts against Mrs. Janja and the President of the Republic. The Cybercrime Directorate will open a police investigation to further investigate”, said the corporation.
