James Webb: new images show rings and moons of Uranus – 12/18/2023 – Science

The James Webb Space Telescope has taken new images of the ice giant Uranus, with details of its rings, moons, storms and even a seasonal polar cap. NASA released the records this Monday (18).
An earlier version of the image was released earlier this year. The new one, however, goes further and has more details.
Even the extremely faint and diffuse Zeta ring was captured by James Webb.
Several of Uranus’s 27 moons are also present in the image.
Uranus rotates at an angle of almost 90° to the plane of its orbit. This makes it appear to rotate sideways.
The planet has a blue-green color because of methane, and the planetary atmosphere is composed of hydrogen and helium, with the presence of water, ammonia and methane.
The length of a day on Uranus is about 17 hours, while a year on the planet is equivalent to 84 years on planet Earth.
