Former Civil House minister and senator, Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI), assesses that “it is easier for a [Jair] Bolsonaro wronged electing a president than he himself wins in 2026”. ) in the next presidential election.

Ciro Nogueira also added: “No one will admit that a president, due to injustice, is made ineligible. It will make the opposition’s work much easier if this injustice happens, but I hope it doesn’t happen.”

In the interview, Ciro pointed out possible right-wing names to contest the 2026 elections, in case Bolsonaro gives up the dispute. He cited governors Tarcísio de Freitas (São Paulo) and Romeu Zema (Minas Gerais), as well as Senator Tereza Cristina (PP-MS) and Ratinho Junior, governor of Paraná. “Other alternatives may arise by then. Bolsonaro will be decisive in the choice”, he reinforced.

Regarding Bolsonaro’s investigation into the Saudi Arabia jewelry case, Nogueira attributed it to a “narrative” and a “smokescreen”. “I hope that the investigation is done in the right way, clarifying the facts and not creating false narratives to attack a good man,” he said.

Regarding the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), Nogueira said that “a competent manager is missing” and that there are many “internal disputes over leadership” among ministers.
