Manaus (AM) – State deputy Alessandra Campelo said she was honored by the invitation from the National Executive to take over the direction of Podemos in Amazonas. Officialization and inauguration will still be announced by the party, which incorporated the PSC in accordance with the decision of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in June.

“I was invited by the national leadership to assume the state presidency of the party. They think it is important to have a woman in the state presidency, also because the national president is a woman (Federal Deputy Renata Abreu, from São Paulo). This work that I’m already doing in the fight against violence against women, in guaranteeing women’s rights and their own participation in politics is very important”,

said Campelo this Wednesday (19).

Deputies Dr. Gomes and Dan Câmara, who will go to Podemos with the party incorporation, were also invited by the National Executive to compose the state directory. Alessandra Campelo ensured the union of the group, which integrates Governor Wilson Lima’s base in the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas.

“We are now in the executive assembly phase. I’m going to have a meeting with the state deputies who are now 20 of us to assemble this executive together, because I really like working in groups. Podemos will continue to be part of the support and support base of Governor Wilson Lima, who is our political leader in the state”,

explained the deputy.

Negotiations

Regarding the inauguration of the new State Executive, Campelo said that there is still no defined date. What is certain is that the act will take place together with the inauguration of the municipal directory, which will be commanded by councilor Caio André, president of the Manaus City Council.

“We are setting up the executive, after the approval of the national one, we will take office, but there is no scheduled date. What is certain is that we are going to do it together with the municipal council and I have even talked to Caio André about working on the organization of the party in the capital and interior and running an affiliation campaign”,

explained parliamentarian.

Finally, Alessandra promised maximum commitment to fulfill the mission she is about to assume in politics, now as a deputy for three terms in Amazonas and at the head of a party.

“In the same way that as a deputy or secretary of state I always dedicate myself a lot to the tasks that are given to me and that I assume, I will dedicate myself very diligently to this honor that will be to preside over the state directory of the party”, concluded Campelo .

Merger and incorporation of parties – According to Article 2 of Law nº 9.096/1995, the Law of Political Parties, “the creation, merger, incorporation and extinction of political parties whose programs respect national sovereignty, the democratic regime, multi-party system is free and fundamental human rights”.

A merger occurs when two or more existing parties unite, forming a new one. In 2022, there was only one request for a merger, between the Social Liberal Party (PSL) and the Democrats (DEM), which originated the União Brasil (UB).

Embedding occurs when one subtitle is absorbed by another. In this case, it is up to the political party to be incorporated to deliberate, by absolute majority of votes, in its national governing body, on the adoption of the statute and program of the incorporating party association.

The incorporation of the PSC by Podemos took place during a virtual plenary session held by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) between June 9th and 15th. Approval was unanimous.
