Ipsos: Brazilians are divided about being on the right path – 04/01/2024 – Panel

Research by the Ipsos institute shows that Brazilians are divided down the middle when asked whether the country is heading in the right direction.
51% of those interviewed in March agreed with the statement, compared to 49% who disagreed, in a tie situation within the margin of error of 3 percentage points.
Viewed over a longer horizon, however, the positive assessment of Brazil’s current situation has been decreasing in the survey, carried out monthly by the institute with around 1,000 people. In August 2023, 60% saw the country on the right path.
Among the main problems highlighted by the research, crime leads, with 44% of mentions, followed by poverty (39%) and health (37%) – more than one item could be mentioned by the interviewee.
The issue of insecurity tends to be one of the main ones in the October municipal election.
“The issue of combating violence is seen as one of the weakest points in the current government’s actions and it is not surprising that the issue begins to be addressed more from now on, at a time when the Lula administration is experiencing repeated drops in popularity”, says the CEO of Ipsos Brasil, Marcos Calliari.
A multinational research company, Ipsos carries out monthly surveys in 29 countries.
