Apple released an update to its iOS 17 software this Wednesday (4) to resolve an overheating issue related to its latest iPhones.

The iPhone 15 lineup, protected by a titanium casing, was launched last month, with its custom A17 Pro chip powering the Pro and Pro Max models. The Pro lineup’s hardware makes the devices suitable for high-end mobile gaming.

Shortly after the launch of the iPhone 15 models, consumers complained about poor battery life and overheating.

The latest iOS 17 software update includes “important bug fixes, security updates, and resolves an issue that may cause iPhone to heat up more than expected,” an Apple spokesperson said Wednesday.

Following complaints that new smartphones are getting too hot, Apple said earlier this week that the phone may heat up in the first few days “after setting up or resetting the device due to increased background activity.”

According to Apple, recent updates to some third-party applications, such as Meta’s Instagram and Uber, were overloading the system.

The company added that the design of the Pro models does not cause the cell phone to overheat and that, in fact, the new titanium coating improves heat dissipation.
