The first Saturday in August will be bitter. The IPA Day SP is scheduled for the 5th of next month, an event that brings together hop fans at Cervejaria Tarantino, starting at 2 pm.
Twenty breweries have already confirmed their presence in the next edition, including well-known figures such as Dogma, Tank Brewpub, Trilha Cervejaria, Everbrew, Juan Caloto and Goose Island, among others.
In all, the event should have 27 labels (last year there were 26) of india pale ales and their variants —hazy IPA, red IPA, american IPA, black IPA, double IPA, New England IPA, session IPA, cold IPA and so on go. Almost half (13 variations) are unreleased IPAs, which will be presented to the public for the first time.
To gain access to the open bar event, the “hop heads”, as fans of the hoppy style are known, can buy tickets on the Sympla website, for R$249.
“We chose the breweries mixing some of those that have the most iconic IPA labels in the state with some that will be new at the festival”, says organizer Rafa Moschetta.
“The difference with the previous editions was that the brewers themselves chose the beers they would like to present, bringing news regarding ingredients, exclusive recipes and much fresher products, to serve our hop heads, who are specialists in IPAs”, he completes.
To eat, the IPA Day SP will have reinforcements at Kansas BBQ and SoukBurger, with hamburgers, Juanito’s, with empanadas, and Chimi, specializing in choripan, among other delicacies.
In the United States, according to the Brewers Association, 40% of craft beers sold are IPAs, love that gave rise to IPA Day in 2011. In Brazil, the event started the following year, and the biggest party is usually in Ribeirão Preto , where IPA Day Brasil takes place (this year, on November 4).
