Investigative Journalism Conference offers 150 scholarships – 02/17/2023 – Novo em Folha

The 13th edition of the Global Conference on Investigative Journalism is accepting applications for scholarships for journalists from emerging and developing countries. The event is organized by the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) and takes place between September 19th and 22nd, in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The conference is offering more than 150 scholarships to enable the participation of journalists from emerging countries. Professionals who work full-time in print, online or audiovisual media vehicles in developing countries can compete. Applications for the scholarship program are open until February 28th and can be completed using the form available here. Those selected will be informed by email by May 1st.

Candidates also need to have advanced knowledge in English, as it will be the language of all lectures and workshops at the event, as well as the application form. Experience in investigative or data journalism will be an asset.

The scholarship covers the costs of round trip tickets to Gothenburg, Sweden, four nights’ accommodation, transfers between the airport and the event hotel, reception and awards ceremony dinner, breakfast and lunch on the days of the conference , in addition to the registration fee for the event.

Financial support does not include expenses for other daily expenses or fees for obtaining necessary visas.

After the event, professionals who receive the financial incentive must produce and publish a report or presentation about the conference or what was learned at the event.

The Global Investigative Journalism Conference is the world’s largest event, bringing together reporters and editors working in investigative and data journalism. The meeting takes place every two years and is attended by more than 1,500 professionals from 120 countries.

This year’s event schedule includes around 150 lectures and workshops, training on up-to-date tools and techniques, in addition to networking and brainstorming sessions.
