Judge Jair Antonio Pena Junior, from the 1st Jury of the TJ-SP (São Paulo Court of Justice), ordered the dismissal of the investigation into the death of a man in a shooting that interrupted the campaign schedule of the then candidate for the Government of São Paulo Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), in Paraisópolis.
The judicial decision for the archiving of the investigation was given last Thursday (19), at the request of the Public Ministry of São Paulo. The information was anticipated by TV Globo and confirmed by Sheet.
According to G1, the prosecutor Fabio Tosta Horner said that the police acted in self-defense and strict compliance with legal duty, which was accepted by the magistrate in the decision. The judge also revoked the secrecy imposed on the process.
The prosecutor also said that the participation of people from Tarcísio’s team in the exchange of fire has not been confirmed. The weapon from which the shots that killed Felipe Silva de Lima, 27, was also not identified, reported the portal.
The episode took place on October 17.
At the time, an audio obtained by Sheet revealed that a member of Tarcísio’s campaign ordered a cameraman from Jovem Pan to erase images of the shooting. The then-candidate said that the request may have been made at a “tense moment” to preserve the identity of those responsible for his safety.
According to information from the police at the time, the presence of suspected armed motorcyclists around the building where the then candidate was, provoked a shootout in the community.
Still according to the police, four plainclothes police officers who worked on the candidate’s security noticed the movement and felt cornered, as other motorcyclists also began to circle the building.
An exchange of weapons between the suspects was allegedly observed by security guards who were on the street where the campaign event was taking place.
