Interpol receives images of suspects of harassing Moraes – 07/20/2023 – Politics

The Federal Police are still waiting for the images from the security cameras at Rome’s international airport to investigate the conduct of Brazilians suspected of harassing Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), and his family members on Friday (14).

According to police sources, Interpol has already received the material, but can only send it to Brazil after approval by the Italian Justice.

Two requests were made for this purpose on Monday (17). The first, of international police cooperation, by Interpol, and the other of international legal cooperation, by DRCI, a department of the Ministry of Justice in charge of asset recovery and international legal cooperation.

There is still no forecast for the arrival of this material in Brazil. Police officers close to the investigation estimate that this type of request usually takes time, but that Moraes’ procedure has been fast. The images, when available, will be submitted to expertise.

The minister reported that he was called a “bandit”, “communist” and “bought” by a group at the airport in Rome and that his son – lawyer Alexandre Barci de Moraes, 27 – was attacked, causing his glasses to fall to the floor, last Friday (14).

The police are investigating the couple Roberto Mantovani Filho and Andreia Munarão, who were also with Alex Zanata Bignotto, his son-in-law, and Giovanni Mantovani, his son.

Moraes participated in an international law forum held at the University of Siena in Italy. He was a panel member in the Constitutional Justice and Democracy debate, in which minister André Ramos Tavares, also a member of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), also participated.

In the departures area of ​​Rome’s international airport, those responsible for the hostilities approached and hurled abuse at the minister, according to investigators.

The defenses of those involved in the episode have said that the hostility towards the minister did not come from them, and they must be confronted with the images from the security cameras.

Businessman Roberto Mantovani Filho said that they were later involved in what they call an “intervero”. On Tuesday (18), the family underwent a search and seizure action in the interior of São Paulo, ordered by Justice Rosa Weber, of the STF.
