Instagram categorized the profile of the actress and former secretary of Culture Regina Duarte as “disinformation disseminator”. With that, the platform began to show an alert for Internet users who want to follow the profile, stating that the page would not be reliable.
“Are you sure you want to follow reginaduarte? This account has repeatedly posted false information that was reviewed by independent fact-checkers or went against our Community Guidelines,” says Instagram.

The former special secretary of Culture in the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) has published criticisms of Lula (PT) and the PT government on her social network, in addition to sharing various political news. Recently, a publication of hers was blocked by Instagram for being considered fake news.
Instagram’s advisory reported that this is not the first time that the warning appears to the actress’s followers because, according to the criteria of the companies hired to check data, the actress would have already published false news. The platform, however, did not report what would be the alleged lies conveyed by the actress. The social network said that technology and “feedback from our community are used to identify publications and accounts that may contain false information on Instagram”.
In 2021, the actress apologized to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and his family for posting false information about former first lady Marisa Letícia Lula da Silva (1950-2017). Sought, Regina Duarte did not respond to the report’s calls to comment on the new punishment of the social network.
