The novelty was also confirmed by Meta’s press office to g1, adding that the launch is global. “You can now post a GIF as a comment on all feed posts and Reels on Instagram. We’re excited to offer people a fun new way to interact with friends and creators,” said a company spokesperson. To use the feature, you just need to open the comment box on a publication on the social network and tap on the GIF icon in the lower right corner to choose an animated image. The available GIFs are part of Giphy’s bank, which is owned by Meta. The owner of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp bought Giphy in an estimated $400 million deal in 2020. At the time, Meta had said it would incorporate Giphy’s GIF library into Instagram and other networks “so that people may find the right way to express themselves”.
