The improvement in the quality of life and the emergence of new prospects for the future are achieved with education
Manaus (AM) – The increase in self-esteem, the improvement in the quality of life and the emergence of new perspectives for the future are among the main advantages for those who complete basic education after having already completed their regular studies. For general service assistant Larissa Gonçalves, 29, being able to finish high school was also a dream come true.
“This was something I had wanted to do for many years, but I was hoping to stabilize so I could pursue it”,
comments Larissa, who, having become a single mother, had to put aside her studies to support her son.
Now with her diploma in hand, Larissa’s goal is to start a business school. As she already works in the company’s administrative sector, she explains that it is an area that is identified and has demand in the job market.
The achievement was possible because the company where Larissa works, Label Packing, in the field of production and sale of items such as labels, cardboard, labels, manuals, among others, signed a partnership with Centro de Ensino Literatus. She and seven other colleagues had the opportunity to do Youth and Adult Education (EJA) at the institution.
Another dreamer of completing her studies was production assistant Raimunda de Freitas, 53 years old. She had to stop at age 20 to take care of her children.
“My husband and I took turns with the work schedule and the kids, so there was no time left for studying,”
explains.
That’s why, when the opportunity to do the EJA came up, Raimunda says she didn’t think twice.
“Today, my children are all grown up, they are all of age, they work and take care of themselves. So it’s time to make my dream come true, but my intention is not to stop here, now that I want to study Production Engineering”,
reveals.
Machine operator Charles Augusto Siqueira, 30, still has doubts about which path to take, but says that it is a great achievement to have finally obtained his high school diploma.
Born in Pará, Charles dropped out of school when he was still a teenager. Unmotivated with classes, he did not see the relevance and relationship of subjects with everyday life.
“Now, with the resumption of studies, I thought many times about giving up, but thanks to everyone’s support I managed to finish”,
celebrate.
The president of the Literatus Group, Elaine Saldanha, points out that, regardless of age, it is always time to pursue your own dreams. “And education has a transforming power in our lives”, she emphasized.
The manager explains that, among the benefits of completing studies, are better wages, the chance to start a higher education course and even take a public tender.
Invest in education
According to the director of Label Packing, Tatiana Angelo, investing in employee education is already part of the company’s policy, however, this was the first time that the chance was offered to those who had not yet completed their studies.
“After a census with employees, we identified those who might want to participate and started an internal movement for them to sign up. Some joined and it was a success, now we are about to start a new EJA class at Literatus, with 20 employees enrolled”,
informed Tatiana.
She comments that there were always employees studying in the break room or in the pantry during breaks at work and this behavior ended up engaging others to participate in the new group.
In addition to the EJA, the company also offers the chance for employees to have technical training, leadership or even higher education. “We have a partnership with a higher education institution, in which we pay 50% of the employee’s monthly fee”, comments the director of Label Packing.
